After receiving his Bachelor and Master’s degrees at the University of Bologna in Italy, Prof. Sgalaberna moved to ETH Zurich where he earned the PhD, specialising on the physics of neutrino oscillations. Then, he moved as PostDoc to the University of Geneva and, later, he became a Research Fellow at CERN, to design and develop the neutrino detector for the upgrade of the T2K experiment. After moving back to ETH Zurich, he was awarded an SNSF Eccellenza Professorial Fellowship, becoming assistant professor in 2022. His main research interests focuses on the search for CP violation in neutrino oscillations, with activities spanning from data analysis, including the development of new machine learning, and development of new detector technologies.
